Rack Tracker — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026 · Applies to Rack Tracker 2.12 and later (Android)

The short version

  • Your hunting data never leaves your phone. Racks, sightings, GPS coordinates, notes and photos are stored only on your device. We cannot see them, we do not upload them, and we hold no copy.
  • There is no account and no email address collected. Your subscription rides on your Google Play account.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no data sales. The app contains no advertising or analytics software of any kind.
  • The only things leaving your device are map imagery requests, so the map can draw, and a subscription check, so the app knows you've paid.

Who we are

Rack Tracker is developed and operated by Elevation Technology Solutions ("we," "us"). Questions about this policy can go to elevationtechnology@outlook.com.

Your hunting data stays on your device

Everything you record in Rack Tracker is written to a private database on your phone and stays there:

  • Racks — names, animal type, notes, and profile photos.
  • Sightings — dates, time of day, sighting type (trail camera, in person, shed), notes, and photos.
  • Locations — names, GPS coordinates, and notes for your spots.
  • Photos — every image you attach, kept in the app's private storage.

This data lives in a SQLite database inside the app's private storage. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We run no server that receives it, we have no ability to read it, and we could not hand it to a third party because we never have it.

The only way it leaves your phone is if you export it using the app's export tools and choose where the file goes.

Worth knowing: because your records exist only on your device, uninstalling the app or wiping the phone erases them permanently. We hold no backup and cannot restore them. Use Settings → Export Full Backup to keep your own copy.

Subscriptions and payment

  • Google Play handles all payment. Your name, card details and billing address are entered into Google Play, never into Rack Tracker. We never see or store payment information.
  • RevenueCat (privacy policy) processes subscription status on our behalf. When the app checks whether your subscription is active, RevenueCat receives your purchase history for this app and an app-generated identifier tied to your device or install. It does not receive your hunting data, your name, or your email address.
  • This exists to answer one question: is this install entitled to the paid features?

Promo codes

If you enter a promotional code, that code is sent to our provider Supabase (privacy policy) to check whether it is valid and mark it used. Only the code itself is transmitted — it is not linked to your identity, and no personal information is attached.

Map imagery

The in-app map draws satellite and topographic imagery from two public mapping services:

  • Esri ArcGIS Online (privacy policy) — satellite imagery, hillshade, and place labels.
  • USGS The National Map (privacy policy) — topographic maps and contour lines.

To draw a map, your device requests the image tiles covering whatever is on screen. Those requests necessarily tell the provider which part of the world you are looking at, along with standard web request information such as your IP address. This is how every mapping app works, and it applies to any area you pan to — not only your saved spots.

We do not send your saved locations, pins, or movement paths to these providers. Your markers are drawn on your own device on top of the imagery. The provider receives a request for a geographic area; it does not receive your records.

What we do not do

  • No advertising — no ad networks, no ad identifiers.
  • No analytics or usage tracking — we do not measure how you use the app, which screens you open, or what you record.
  • No crash reporting that collects personal data.
  • No profiling and no data sales. We do not sell, rent or share your information, and we never will.
  • No background location. The app never accesses your location while closed and keeps no history of where you have been.
  • No cloud sync. There is no account holding your hunting data, because no such account exists.

Device permissions

You can decline any of these; doing so only disables the related feature.

  • Camera — to photograph a rack or sighting from inside the app. Used only when you choose "Take Photo".
  • Photos / media — to attach an existing image from your gallery.
  • Location (while using the app) — to fill in coordinates when you tap the GPS button, and to show your position on the map. Read on demand, used on your device, never transmitted to us.
  • Internet — to load map imagery and verify your subscription.

Exporting and sharing your own data

You own your records, and the app is built so you can take them with you:

  • Full backup (JSON) — every rack, sighting, location and photo in one file.
  • Single rack (JSON) — one animal's history, photos included, to send a hunting partner.
  • Locations (GPX) — your spots as waypoints for a GPS unit or another mapping app.

Exported files go wherever you send them. Once a file leaves the app it is outside our control and outside this policy — and if you share a backup, you are sharing your GPS coordinates with whoever receives it. Treat those files as sensitive.

Data retention and deletion

  • Your hunting data — held only on your device, and gone when you uninstall the app or clear its data. There is nothing to request from us; we have no copy.
  • Subscription records — purchase history is retained by Google Play and RevenueCat under their own policies. Cancel through Google Play → Subscriptions.
  • Legacy email accounts — earlier versions offered a sign-in-by-email option. That feature has been removed and the app no longer collects email addresses. If you used it previously, we may still hold your email address and subscription record; email us and we will delete it within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Rack Tracker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to delete — but if you have a concern, contact us.

Security

Your hunting records never travel over the network, which removes the most common way such data gets exposed. On the device they are protected by Android's app sandboxing and by your own screen lock and encryption. Requests to our providers travel over encrypted HTTPS connections. We hold no password for you, because the app has none.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page. If a future version of the app ever begins collecting something new — cloud sync, for instance — we will say so here before that version ships.
